For some fortunate souls, finding a life partner happens in youth and remains constant, enduring and satisfying throughout life. For the rest of us, though, the process of finding, trying, testing and (hopefully) finally identifying our life partner is fraught with drama, uncertainty and heartache.  Some of the forays into finding love are humorous. Some are terrifying. Some are devastating. Some are bittersweet. All are opportunities for increased self-knowledge. All provide life lessons. All add to the totality of who we are as a person.

Here are some thoughts on those adventures in finding love. Perhaps you will find some of your adventures reflected here!

CORRIDORS

Some face and challenge their inner demons in the shadowy realm of inner corridors. Some fear to follow. The outcome is not always clear.

CYCLES

The cycles of life are eternal. Birth. Growth. Life.  Death. Decay. Renewal. The pain of lost love sometimes gives way for the renewals of new love. Sometimes not – depending on the winds of fate.

JOKERS

The random gods of love sometimes smile benignly on us and love flowers into permanence and joy. Other times the random gods of love are cruel jokers – dangling the promise of happiness only to snatch it away at the last moment.

Love

Whatever do we mean when we say to another adult, “I love you” ?

MR RIGHT?

Is he? Is he not? Is there even such a person as Mr. Right? or Ms. Right? That roller coaster ride of adrenaline never really answers the question, though, and we grope through life hoping to find an answer.

SABOTAGE

Fear of success and change cause strange behaviors – including sabotage of the very thing we think we want. Back to those Corridors…

TALK

The complexities of communication sometimes evade us. One speaks aloud. One speaks silently. Both are talking. Neither is communicating.

TWINE

The briefest of relationships are sometimes the most profound. We touch. We share. We part. Each leaving with more than they brought. Bittersweet impact of lives twining and parting.
